Brain drain, another shame for the Iranian regime

Brain drain, another shame for the Iranian regime

Iran is in the first place among 91 countries suffering from the emigration of high educated experts
Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, Oct. 11, 2018 - Iran is in the first place among 91 countries suffering from the emigration of highly educated experts and elites–64 percent of Iranian students and the winners of the Olympiad, the national math competition, have left the country during the past 14 years.
According to the reports of official economic experts, the brain drain from Iran has cost the country billions of dollars.
Ahmad Khoram, the head of Engineering Organization and the former minister of transportation, revealed that Iran suffers from the loss of 150 billion dollars every year, due to the brain drain. “UNESCO says that 150,000 intellectuals leave Iran every year. The government spends one million dollars for every university graduate student before the student can enter the work cycle of the country. Thus, we loss 150 thousand million dollars per year and nobody cares,” Khoram told the state-run ISNA news agency in June 2018.
Hassan Rouhani also could not keep silent about this crisis. According to the October 9 edition of National Foundation of Intellectuals website, he said, “Some people say that there is no need to worry about the emigration of intellectuals if it was happening in mutual interactions. But the brain drain is a different issue and is a great loss for any nation. It is regrettable that other countries could benefit from this treasure without spending a penny on it.”
The statistics speak for themselves. Out of 150 mathematical elite students graduated from Sharif University, only one remains in Iran. Sharif University is the most famous university in Iran.
The state-run website of Asr-e Iran wrote on September 30, “Fortunately, we have a growing number of graduate students, managers, and experts, but take into account the brain drain, we will face mismanagement, chaos, disorder, a bankrupt economy, embezzlement, closure of factories, etc.”

Why does Iran suffer from brain drain?

First is the appointing of unqualified persons to key posts. Government offices are given to people who are just loyal to the dictatorship ruling Iran, and the qualified, educated, experts and elites are deprived of such opportunities.
Second is the lack of freedom. Unprecedented oppressive measures taken in universities force students to complete their studies in western countries. Mahmood Sadeghi, a member of the regime’s parliament recently exposed: “universities are ruled with an iron fist, especially during the recent years, and it leads to the discouragement of students. Students are not interested in taking part in political and cultural activities. The Disciplinary Committee, which watches and punishes students’ political and social activities, could expel the students from the university in some cases.”
Third, graduate students and especially girls are joining the long line of job seekers with no vision of hope for finding a proper job. Only 12 percent of Iranian women are taking part in social activities.
One can hear the women’s voice in Iran talking about discrimination against women. A graduated lady says, “Every young man or woman is seeking for a job. I know that I have no future with this amount of salary.” Another lady talks about unemployment of her graduated boys and girls, “I have six children. Between them, they have a master’s degree, a bachelor, associate degree, and one of them has a diploma, but only the last one is working as a worker and the other five are unemployed and stay in the house. The government interferes in every detail of your life, they start with your hijab, then your clothes, scarf, etc.”
So it is clear that graduate students do not see any future in staying in Iran and leave the country as soon as they can.
It is worth mentioning that Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, addressed the crowd in his speech in October 1979, just one year after he came to power, where he said, “To hell with brain drain! They say that brains are draining! Let them drain! To hell with them and with those brains! Those brains were not scientific brains, those were betrayers' brains.”
In another speech, he said, “We have suffered from a university. A bad university is better not to exist.”
It goes without saying that what  “bad university” means in Khomeini’s evil mentality. Khomeini meant that university and students had to execute his order and realize his twisted dreams for founding his fundamentalist empire in the region, based on Sharia law. If not, the educated should go to hell, or at least to other countries.
Under such regime, Ali Khamenei, its current supreme leader, has wiped out names of intellectuals from lists of key posts and positions and has appointed heads of his oppressive forces who are loyal to the dictatorship, as Basij, IRGC commanders, intelligence officers, or their relatives. So the one-way road for intellectuals and elites is “brain drain.”

Iran: Diaspora rallying in New York against Rouhani visit

Iranians preparing for demonstrations in New York against the mullahs' regime President Hassan Rouhani
Analysis by PMOI

Sept. 21, 2018 - Signs indicate the upcoming New York visit planned for Iranian regime President Hassan Rouhani, planning to attend the 73rd United Nations General Assembly next week, is already becoming a demonstration by freedom-loving Iranians.
Members of the Iranian Diaspora preparing for this rally are seen informing the public opinion about the crimes committed by this devious mullah.
Freedom-loving Iranians are demanding Rouhani, being the president of a state sponsor of terrorism, not be allowed into New York and the UNGA session.
As a member of the regime’s Supreme National Security Council, Rouhani has for more than three decades been approving all of the mullahs’ terror plots against the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the Iranian people, both inside the country and abroad.
The Iranian regime’s recent terror plot targeting the Iranian opposition’s annual rally in Paris on June 30th, specifically seeking to deliver a severe blow to the PMOI/MEK and the Iranian Resistance as a whole, was also approved by Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The Iranian regime’s plot to bomb the Iranian opposition convention – “Free Iran 2018” – in Paris was foiled two weeks ago. And yet the subject continues to gain international coverage and growing attention.
Liberation in France cited Agence France Presse on July 11th saying the French government will be extraditing one suspect to Belgium soon, adding an Iranian diplomat is in detention in Germany after a failed plot against the Iranian opposition. This dossier is now entering the new phase and yet specifics in this regard remain very vague.
Raising a significant diplomatic uproar, Belgium’s investigation enjoys cooperation from judicial authorities in France and Germany.
Mehrdad Arefani, an Iranian-Belgian man, was arrested in France and is considered an accomplice. On Wednesday, in court, he agreed to be extradited into the custody of Belgian authorities.
This Iranian regime terrorist, a member of a sleeping cell for years and in contact with Tehran’s intelligence apparatus, was arrested on June 30thwhen the PMOI/MEK were holding their annual convention in Villepinte just outside of Paris. Former US House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Mayor Rudy Giuliani, two figures very close to US President Donald Trump, were among those taking part in this rally.
On July 3rd a Belgian judge issued a European arrest warrant for him on charges of acting to commit terrorist murder and preparing an attack. This individual will be extradited in a maximum of 20 days. However, the Iranian regime, considering its established relations with Vienna, is demanding the suspect be sent to Austria as soon as possible.
Based on Belgian judiciary intelligence, judges are saying Mehrdad A., who will possibly face 30 years behind bars, was arrested in a hotel room following intelligence from an unknown source. He had a mobile phone with an Austrian SIM card with only one Austrian phone number in its records.
French prosecutors had launched an investigation into participation in criminal terrorist activities two days prior to the Iranian opposition rally and the French security apparatus received orders to see into this matter.
German federal prosecutors issued a statement on July 11th announcing the arrest warrant for the Iranian regime’s diplomat terrorist Assadollah Assadi on charges of espionage and conspiracy to commit murder. Prior to this, he was arrested on July 1st based on a European arrest warrant.
Assadi was a member of Iran’s Intelligence Ministry, an entity mainly tasked to take severe action against dissidents inside the country and abroad, and the German judiciary arrest warrant does not in any way contradict Belgium’s extradition request.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) issued a statement shedding new light on this developing matter:
According to reliable intelligence from inside the regime, this terrorist act was decided months ago by Iran’s supreme leader, the president, foreign and intelligence ministers, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, the Revolutionary Guards, the Quds Force, the IRGC's intelligence Organization, and the deputy for political-security affairs of Khamenei's office. The Ministry of Intelligence and Assadollah Assadi, the MOIS station chief in Austria, were assigned to carry out the operation. Since a few years ago, the MOIS station in Vienna had become the coordinator of the MOIS stations in Europe.
Assadi is one of the MOIS’s veteran agents who was stationed in Vienna since 2014 under the guise of a Third Counselor. His office was at room No 200 on the third floor of the embassy. His main task was espionage and conspiracy against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and he has been traveling to various European countries in this regard. Before Assadi, Mostafa Roodaki was in charge of the MOIS station in Vienna. Roodaki was first transferred to Tehran and then in 2017, he was dispatched to Tirana in order to engage in a conspiracy against the PMOI in Albania.
In fear of the consequences of the exposure of its terrorist operation against the mass number of innocent civilians, and paranoid about the revelations of its other terrorists, the mullahs’ regime seeks to see Assadi would be extradited to Austria and subsequently be transferred to Iran. As such, the clerical regime has resorted to intimidation, blackmail and offering concessions. This is while this terrorist diplomat was active in the preparation for a crime against humanity at the heart of Europe and was directing it.
During their visit to Austria last week, Rouhani and Zarif met with Austria's former minister of defense, who has had very active and close relations with the mullahs’ regime since years ago, in order to have him take the lead to try to free Assadi. The regime’s foreign ministry has claimed in its internal reports that the Austrian government is willing to close the case quickly and will utilize its resources for this purpose.
Iranian Resistance warns against the regime's attempts to divert the investigations and to help its terrorist diplomats in general, and Assadi, in particular, escape the justice and calls for the closure of regime’s embassies and representative offices, and the expulsion of terrorist diplomats and the MOIS and Quds Force agents. This is in accordance with the decision of the Council of Europe on April 29, 1997, which stipulated that the mullahs’ mercenaries and intelligence and security agents should be expelled from European Union Member States and not allowed to enter the EU Member States.
The Iranian Resistance reiterates on the need to disclose and publish all details of the terrorist attack against the grand gathering of Iranians. Public awareness of these details is essential for securing the security of the Iranian dissidents and refugees in particular, and the security of Europe in general.

Iranian people’s health endangered by the regime’s corruption

Iran’s hospitals are faced with a shortage of necessary medical equipment to treat infections
Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, Sept. 19, 2018 - While Iranian officials are fast busy plundering and liquidating the country’s wealth and resources, and while the regime continues to spend stellar amounts on fomenting war and violence in neighboring countries, the people of Iran continue to suffer and see their lives decline into famine and misery. A less discussed aspect of this ongoing crisis is how corrupt regime institutions and officials are affecting Iran’s healthcare industry.
Iran’s hospitals are faced with a shortage of necessary medical equipment to treat infections. The shortage has become so severe that the president of the AIDS department in Tehran’s Khomeini Hospital has warned against the reuse of equipment. “We are faced with a shortage both in equipment and in medication,” she said in an interview with the state-run ILNA news agency. “We are especially faced with a problem in the material that we use to control infections.”
The situation has grown so serious that some material, including appliances used in heart surgery and treating heart diseases are being reused across operations and treatments. Previously, Maryam Ghassemi, the head of the Medical Equipment Producers Organization had warned about the danger of shortage of medical equipment in health centers and described it as a threat for the country’s healthcare industry.
In Iran’s monthly Medical Engineering Journal (Mohandesi-e Pezeshki), Ghassemi warned against the threat of import of smuggled low quality goods and their entrance into the country’s healthcare industry.
This is all happening while every year, a huge budget is allocated to the purchase of medical goods. But corruption and graft at the highest levels of the government prevent these goods from reaching the people and proper institutions.
In August, during an interview with the Iranian regime’s Channel One News (Kanal-e Yek), Mohammad Hossein Ghorbani, member of the parliament’s health commission, said, “The budget that has been allocated [to medical expenditures] has tripled compared to four months ago, but there hasn’t been enough supervision to document the medication and equipment orders.”
In the same program, Channel One describes that “every year, approximately $1 billion is allocated to the import of medical goods and another billions dollars is given to companies at low exchange rates so that they can import medical material and equipment.”
In one discovered case of corruption, Shabnam Nematzadeh, the daughter of the former Mines and Industry Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh in Hassan Rouhani’s cabinet, was found to be hoarding a stock of medication worth 50 billion rials (approx. $500,000). After the warehouse was discovered, many of the medications were found to have been expired.
Also, according to ISNA news agency, an inspection in 2017 found more than 6 thousand cases of smuggling involving medicine, hygiene products and medical equipment. Meanwhile, patients with cancer and other dangerous illnesses are faced with a shortage of medication.
The Hamshahri daily describes the situation as such: “The cycle of procuring medication has turned into a confusing mess, confounding the producers, importers, distributers and most important of all the consumers.”
But the spokesperson of the Iranian regime’s health ministry shamelessly told Mehr News Agency that “the shortage of medicine is natural.”
This statement is in contradiction to what the regime’s own news outlets are reporting about the situation in Iran. In an interview with the Khorasan Daily, the manager of the medication and medical material in control of Mashhad’s Health Sciences University warned, “One of the new problems is the reverse smuggling of medical goods. In previous years, goods were smuggled into the country from foreign countries. But presently, good are being smuggled ‘out of the country,’ and medicine is no exception.”
